Songwriting from the Archive with Holly Ebony

Fridays 3, 10, 17 May

10am-12noon Exeter Phoenix

Three workshops for m/others to explore group singing with folk artist and mother Holly Ebony. The workshops invite you to explore the Phoenix Archive Project with Holly who has been commissioned by Exeter Phoenix to explore this extraordinaire unseen archive of film from the 1930s to the 1960s, tracking one family's travels and activities through this turbulent period. In this unique workshop series in partnership with M/Others on the Mic, Holly will share sections of the footage and perform her own creative work emerging from her research of the archive. Through group singing, Holly invites you to share your own responses to the archive footage and themes, which include community, social change, travel, colonialism, ecology and relationship to place. On the 24th May there will be an optional group sharing as part of M/Others on the Mic Live at Exeter Library, 11am-12.15pm.

No singing experience is required, and children of all ages are welcome with you.  Places are free, but if you are in a position to leave a donation this supports M/Others on the Mic to offer free and discounted tickets to future events.

A free lunch is provided 12-12.30pm for adults and accompanying children.
