Parents on the Mic Live - Songwriting Edition Headlined by SAMANTICS

11am-1pm (with an interval)

Venue: Exeter Library

Tickets:

A relaxed and revolutionary daytime performance space in Exeter designed to amplify artists and voices of parents.

Join Lizzy Humber and Eleanor Viola Spencer for a sharing of local parents sharing songs written as part of this years songwriting programme. There will be an exciting acoustic set from SAMANTICS. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this uplifting daytime performance platform.

Expect a relaxed and lively space for grown-ups but children are welcome and supported to be themselves, no shhing required. Content is adult centred, sometimes this can include strong language and adult themes. We find younger children tend not to notice as they are too busy playing, but we offer content warnings before each sharing so you can choose what’s right for you and any accompanying children.

Parents on the Mic is an uplifting, supportive and empowering gig– in the middle of the day! So whether you’re in need of a bit of culture, a joyful community or just an early lunch break – you are welcome!

Supporting musicians:

Abbe Martin (Sound of the Sirens)

Emma Wighmam (Witching Waves)

Eleanor Viola Spencer (Stop the Bear)

Lewis Baker (Stop the Bear / Wak Therapists)

Headline Set:

SAMANTICS grew up listening to punk bands practice in his dads living room, giving him the opportunity to experience the thrill and uppercut of live music while he sat and did his homework. However, being a more reserved, and tirelessly shy young lad back then, his passion really began with words, words he’d keep to himself in his pad, words, and poetry, that helped explain what he couldn’t always say. It wasn’t until years later that he discovered these words could be lyrics, and these lyrics could be life saving. SAMANTICS is a one man machine of honesty, energy, words and noise. Using lyrics to portray his own unique vision of the world we’re all wandering, he speaks and screams from the centre of his erratic heart. It’s not quite hip-hop, but it’s not quite not.

“A really clever fella… funny, entertaining, engaging and moving’.” – Steve Lamacq/Radio 6
