HELLO I’m Lizzy, a producer, facilitator, creative mentor and mother. I create parent-friendly art and culture programmes. I also love supporting creative people to bring their dreams into reality through mentoring and producing. I’m based in Exeter Devon UK, but I work with artists all around the world, across artforms.

Daytime Art and Culture Programme
Join Lizzy Humber (The Daylight Collective) to explore your m/otherhood story through art journalling. Find rest, community and connection. Over the three sessions we will be inspired by artists Yayoi Kusama, Laxmi Hussain and Yara + Davina.
Your journal will be filled with colour, stories and power.
The course is designed for m/others, at all stages of pregnancy, m/otherhood and grandm/otherhood. Children are welcome with you. Conversations are adult centred.

The Daylight Collective is Artist in Residence at Exeter Phoenix, providing accessible art and culture to parents since 2018.

The Daylight Collective present a parent-accessible zine workshop with guest artist Scotty Gillespie. Open to all parents.

Step into the vibrant world of DIY expression with the art of zine making and sticker making with multidisciplinary artist Scotty Gillespie. This is a space for parents who would enjoy some creative time. Whether you're a seasoned creator or a novice explorer, zine making invites you to blend words, images, and ideas in a personal, tangible form. Unleash your creativity, thoughts, and unique voice onto the pages of your own handmade publication. Embrace the power of the handmade, the unconventional, and the authentically you – embark on a journey of self-discovery through the art of zine making. This is a workshop aimed at adults but where older children with you can get stuck in too, and younger ones are free to play / sleep / be themselves. You are welcome without children with you too.
What to bring:
All art materials and refreshments are provided.
Scotty invites you to bring objects and pictures of things, places, people you love, or that are special moments in your parenthood story. There’s meaning in the big and small things, from your favourite place to snuggle up, the favourite baby grow, the teddy that has been on all the adventures, to the family pizza night and kitchen discos.
You can bring physical objects and pictures for inspiration or have them on your phone. Scotty will support you to create a zine that is a reflection and celebration of you and your parenthood story.
You are also welcome to bring art materials and magazine if you have an idea your keen to explore.
Cost:
There are 2 fully funded and 3 subsidised places supported by Arts Council England. If cost is a barrier please select these, no questions asked. If you are able to pay the supporter rate this helps us meet the project costs which includes fair pay for m/other artists.
Children of all ages are free.
A space for m/others with creativity in their bones

Join Lizzy Humber and Amy Chadney for the The Daylight Collective’s monthly circle, designed for creative m/others to connect, talk, and listen. Together we explore the emergent themes in our m/otherhood and creativity, points of connection between the two roles, points of dissonance, particular challenges and helpful resources.
M/OTHERS ON THE MIC
Amplifying the voices of voices of m/others
The Daylight Collective is delighted to announce support from Arts Council England for our parent accessible art and culture programme.
We will be supported to continue to offer M/Others on the Mic and Matrescence Festival in Exeter, but will take to the road to Buckfastleigh, Plymouth and Bristol supporting us to grow our audiences and support local artists who are m/others.
Our partners include Exeter Phoenix, Exeter Library, The Baby Room, Comedy on Referral, Mothers in Music, The Yard and The Glade Dartington. We have also received support from Exeter City Council and Theos Think Tank.
Matrescence Festival UK 2027 will take place in Exeter Phoenix on Sunday 20 June meaning we can welcome more people as we take over the venue for the whole day.

It takes a village to create this work, and we are really looking forward to working with new venues, artists and meeting new audiences who are keen to access art, culture, community and matrescence education.
We still have some funds to raise to meet our vision for 2027, so we will be announcing a community fundraising walk and sponsorship opportunities in the new year. If you would like to support us we would love to hear from you.
