Friday 24 May

M/Others on the Mic sharing at Exeter Library, 11am-12.15pm

Join folk artist and mother Holly Ebony for 3 workshops for m/others to explore group singing in response to a film archive.

The Phoenix Archive Project has invited Holly to explore this extraordinaire unseen archive of film from the 1930s to the 1960s, tracking one family's travels and activities through this turbulent period. In this unique workshop series in partnership with M/Others on the Mic, Holly will share sections of the footage and perform her own creative work emerging from her research of the archive. Through group singing, Holly invites you to share your own responses to the archive footage and themes, which include community, social change, travel, colonialism, ecology and relationship to place. There will be an optional group sharing as part of M/Others on the Mic at Exeter Library, you are also welcome to watch and support as part of the audience.

No singing experience is required, and children of all ages are welcome with you.  Places are free, but if you are in a position to leave a donation this supports M/Others on the Mic to offer free and discounted tickets to future events.

A free lunch will also be provided.

*On the 3rd May only the first session will take place in an alternative venue in Exeter.
