About the sessions:
Join Martha Locke for a creative movement sessions, designed for m/others journeying through matrescence.
This is a place to express, share, and connect with the art of movement as a tool for wellbeing and connection. We will explore voice, breath and drawing in connection to movement.
Expect a safe, non-judgmental space to feel seen and heard. This is an opportunity to find more freedom in the body, to soften aching limbs and allow the mind to be less of a leader. The sessions offer a chance to tune in to your needs and your role as a mother.
We will use the theme Autumn and letting go as a gentle theme across both sessions - what are we ready to let go of before emerging into the depths of winter? - This could be in our m/othering or life in general. The sessions will be supported by Lizzy Humber (The Daylight Collective)
Martha Locke:
Martha is a mother and movement practitioner and maker specialising in movement in natural landscapes. Working with people of all ages, backgrounds and body types, she facilitates movement improvisation that invites people to listen to their bodies, follow what feels good and explore movement through the whole body. Her practice is rooted in curiosity, connection and the freedom to move in ways that feel authentic and alive. Martha has worked extensively with movement artist and teacher Helen Poynor, deepening her practice of non-stylised and environmental movement. She also trained in physical theatre, bringing a playful, expressive and imaginative approach to her work. As a mother, Martha is deeply passionate about creating spaces where m/others feel supported, seen, and free to be themselves. She believes movement to be a powerful tool that nurtures wellbeing, fosters connection, and gives people space to reconnect with themselves, one another, and their creativity.
